Chief Operating OfficerRob Day

Mr. Robert Day is the Chief Operating Officer at TECHLAB. He has spent 22 years in quality and operations at FDA regulated companies, including both pharmaceutical and medical devices. In his 17 years at TECHLAB, Day has assumed multiple roles of increasing responsibility in quality management and operational functions. Previously, Day worked in various management roles at Elizabeth Arden with a majority spent as microbiology lab manager.

Day has a bachelor’s degree in Biology with a concentration in microbiology and immunology from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University and an M.B.A. focused in project management from the Keller Graduate School of Management of DeVry University.

Chief Science OfficerDavid Lyerly

Dr. David Lyerly co-founded TECHLAB in 1989 and currently serves as the Chief Science Officer.

Lyerly was a Research Scientist at Virginia Tech in the Anaerobe Lab when he and Dr. Tracy Wilkins started TECHLAB to extend their work on diagnostics for Clostridium difficile infection. He has published numerous articles on C. difficile, parasitology, and intestinal diseases on diverse areas including basic and molecular microbiology, development of diagnostic reagents for Clostridium difficile infection, protein purification, mechanism of action of toxins A and B, and possible vaccines.

Lyerly holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and an M.S. and Ph.D. in Microbiology/Immunology from Wake Forest’s Bowman Gray School of Medicine.

Chief Commercial OfficerGreg Stanley

Mr. Greg Stanley is the Chief Commercial Officer at TECHLAB, where he is responsible for global commercial operations.

Stanley has many years experience in the industry, having served as Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Global Diagnostics Business Unit of OPKO Health, Inc., and over 5 years as Director of Marketing and then National Director of Corporate Accounts for Roche Diagnostics. Prior to his time at Roche, Stanley had increasing scope of responsibility in sales, marketing, and executive management roles at Abbott Diagnostics, Chiron Corporation, and Radiometer. He has been at the executive leadership level for almost 20 years and, during his tenure, served on the Boards of Directors for Radiometer and Oncimmune (USA) LLC.

Stanley holds a B.S. in Business Administration from the University of Missouri-Saint Louis.

Vice President of Manufacturing OperationsSteven Harvey

Mr. Steven Harvey is Vice President of Manufacturing Operations, overseeing operations at TECHLAB’s Radford manufacturing facility. Employed by TECHLAB since 1995, Harvey is dedicated to meeting customer demands and supplying quality products on time.

Harvey serves on multiple boards throughout the area, including New River Community College, Manufacturing Technology Center, and Radford City Economic Development.

Harvey holds a Bachelor of Science from Radford University, where he majored in Biology and Chemistry and minored in Mathematics in 1995.

Vice President of Scientific AffairsJoel Herbein

Dr. Joel Herbein is Vice President of Scientific Affairs at TECHLAB. He has spent 14 years with the company designing and developing in vitro diagnostics for global markets and has 26 years of experience overall. He was the Principal Investigator for eight IVDs receiving FDA, Canadian, and EU clearances or USDA licenses.

Herbein has directed multiple projects receiving a total of more than $8 million in funding from the NIH and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. He has also established and maintained numerous clinical collaborations with enteric disease centers around the globe.

Herbein received a Bachelors of Science from Pennsylvania State University and a Ph.D. from Duke University under Dr. Jo Rae Wright.
